RESULTS! San Jose Jr. Sharks Tournament

Chadders hockey finally started labor day weekend. We had four practices til our first tournament in San Jose. We left for San Jose friday August 29th at 10pm. Our team rode the bus to San Jose. It was a pretty quick drive down there because we left pretty late so everyone just slept the whole way. When we arrived in San Jose we went straight to the rink to play our first game.

Our first game was against the San Jose Jr. Sharks. The game was really close. We were down 4-3 after the second period. The Jr. Sharks scored a quick one in the 3rd to make it 5-3. We pulled our goalie late in the third and they scored on the empty net making the final score 6-3. After the game we went to the hotel, checked in and I took a quick nap because we had another game at 8:15pm. I roomed with Josh Harris, Hampus (Swedish Goalie), and Donny Harris. It was a very relaxed room.

Our next game was against the San Diego Gulls. Our team started out horribly. The Gulls scored two quick goals in the first period making it 2-0. Alex Halloran answered right back to make it 2-1. The Gulls then rushed the puck right off the face off and made it 3-1. We struggled through the period and managed to tie it up before the period ended. We came to play in the second and scored three more goals by the end of the period. San Diego only scored one which made the score 6-4 by the end of the second. Not much happened in the third both teams each got a goal giving us the win 7-5. I got the sixth goal of the game.

The next game we played the California Wave. We started this game out even worse then before. At the end of the first it was 3-1 Wave. We stepped it up in the second and made the score 4-3 Wave. We finally started playing our game in the third but the Wave held us off and got an empty net goal making the final score 5-3. So we now had two losses with one win. Things we looking ok, but we had to kill the next team in order for us to have a shot at the championship.

That night we played the Houston Wild. We absolutley killed them. Mikko Akais from Finaland got four goals, I got one goal, henry had two, Halloran had one, and Gustav had one. We won the game 9-0. We had enough points in this game to make the championship.

We got our rematch with the Jr. Sharks. The game was very close. By the end of the second period the score was 3-2 Sharks. We fought hard, but luck was just not with us and we ended up loosing 4-3.

All in all it was a very good tournament. Everyone bonded good and we learned what we need to work on for future tournaments.
